Remote identity validation technologies have enabled people to assert their identity fully online, without going to a physical location. It is important to understand the performance of these systems and the degree to which they may reduce fraud while maintaining fair access to services.
The Remote Identity Validation Technology Demonstration (RIVTD) will challenge industry to demonstrate secure, accurate, and fair remote identity validation technologies that can combat identity fraud when users apply for government services, open bank accounts, or verify social media accounts.
The RIVTD will provide an opportunity for systems to demonstrate their ability to validate identity documents using images, to verify the identity of the document owner by matching the document with a “selfie” image, and to assure the "liveness" of selfie images. All images will be taken with smartphones and similar devices.
Companies providing remote identity validation technologies are encouraged to apply.
