2022 BIOMETRIC TECHNOLOGY RALLY

The 2022 Biometric Technology Rally challenges industry to develop faster, more accurate, and easier-to-use biometric recognition capabilities to improve security and ease of use at security checkpoints. The 2022 Rally will evaluate face biometric acquisition systems and face biometric matching algorithms that are designed to reliably identify small groups of people opting-in to the biometric process, and to not process bystanders who have not opted-in. Biometric systems will be tested against pre-determined performance benchmarks measured separately for different demographic groups. Data collected from acquisition systems during scenario testing will be used to assess the performance and interoperability of matching algorithms. The 2022 Rally will take place at the Maryland Test Facility in September of 2022.

    Announcement Webinar

    DHS S&T hosts a webinar to present an overview of the 2022 Biometric Technology Rally to interested parties. There will be time for questions about the information presented, and the webinar slides will be available after the brief.

    DHS S&T presents technical information and detailed application instructions for the 2022 Biometric Technology Rally.

    Application Deadline

    Application packages for the 2022 Biometric Technology Rally due by 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time.

    Conditional Acceptance Notification

    DHS S&T notifies biometric technology providers of conditional acceptance to participate.

  • August 2022

    Post-Conditional Acceptance Webinar

    DHS S&T hosts a webinar and Q&A session to present the technical requirements for final acceptance, logistical considerations, and details for participation in the 2022 Biometric Technology Rally.

  • August 15, 2022

    Acceptance Requirements Due

    Biometric technology providers submit all final acceptance requirements, including, but not limited to, demonstrating integration with MdTF APIs, by 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time.

  • August 19, 2022

    Final Acceptance Notification

    DHS S&T sends final approval notification and finalized CRADAs to biometric technology providers.

  • September 2022

  • September 12, 2022

    Acquisition System Installation at the MdTF

    Acquisition System Providers install their systems at the MdTF for the 2022 Biometric Technology Rally.

  • September 13, 2022

    In Person VIP Day

    Acquisition system providers have the opportunity to demonstrate their systems to VIPs.

  • September 14, 2022

    Start of Rally Testing

    The 2022 Biometric Technology Rally testing starts at the MdTF. Testing continues from September 14 to September 30.

  • September 30, 2022

    Acquisition System Tear Down Day

    Acquisition system providers need to remove their systems from the MdTF by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
