Remote identity validation technologies have enabled people to assert their identity fully online, without going to a physical location. It is important to understand the performance of these systems and the degree to which they may reduce fraud while ensuring secure and trusted access to services.
The Remote Identity Validation Rally (RIVR) will challenge industry to demonstrate secure, effective, and accurate remote identity validation technologies that can combat identity fraud when users apply for government services, open bank accounts, or verify social media accounts, and more.
The RIVR will provide an opportunity for technology developers to demonstrate their ability to validate identity documents using images, to verify the identity of the document owner by matching the document with a "selfie" image, and to assure the "liveness" of selfie images. All images will be taken with smartphones and similar devices.
Companies providing remote identity validation technologies are encouraged to apply.

The Selfie Match to Document (SMTD) Track of RIVR challenges industry to develop secure, accurate, and easy to use technologies that can match a selfie image from a user to a document image from that user and not match selfie and document images that belong to different users.
